unanswered prayers
While listening to a commercial radio station today, the DJ said something that really made me stop and think. She said, "I thank God for unanswered prayers". No she did not mean that God wasn't listening to her prayers, but she was simple thankful that what she initially desired wasn't given to her.Can you imagine if our God was a vending machine God and simply gave us everything we ever asked for?
It's like 10 times (or more) worse than a permissive parent. A- child will be toothless (not even cute like How to Train Your Dragon) because of overindulgence in candy. B- kid would be a shocking reality check when they don't get what they want around other children. C-... well you know what I'm saying.
It takes some letting go of the future you have planned, and takes some faith in walking into a future only He can see.
God listens to all prayers. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes the answer is no, sometimes the answer is- I have something better in store for you, just you wait. So when you pray- pray first for His will to be done, and trust that His is sovereign- in the large things such as career, relationships, finances, in the small things- finding a parking spot, and in all the things in between.
