It's been a crazy 6 months... I moved out of home to take a chance on a job opportunity. Over the last 6 months, I have met some pretty interesting people in and outside of my clinic room. I have had epic adventures in this city both in the wild and within the cityscape. And I have experienced a range of human emotions from pure joy to despair.

I felt like it was more than an existence. There were so many moments where I felt absolutely alive. Not just in the ups, and not just in the downs, but even in those mundane moments. I have been incredibly blessed.

In 12 days time I'll be back home. I'm not sure where I will be in 6 months time, but I guess I can only take it a day at a time.

I am bless with a job that allows me to get to know people... many people, and hear their stories. On a given day, I would be exposed to people with persistent pain, long term health issues, long term mental health issues, depression, anxiety, behavioural difficulties, substance abuse issues, etc.

There was an inspirational client I met lately, who was able to overcome what medical doctors thought was impossible. The client had this energy, and instead of giving up, they tried harder, and now, in recovery, they are determined to motivate others to overcome.

That is just one part of our health. Or two if you count both physical and mental health. We were made completely flawless, completely clean and free from imperfection in God's eyes. But one man's sacrifice. Sometimes we forget the enormity of this.

Over a couple of days last week, we had a visit from a Malaysian worship team. In a series of worship workshops that followed, the bunch of young people who attended, myself included were bought back to the heart of worship.

Sometimes I stand frustrated in the front of a crowd, trying all my skills and techniques to get others to sing. Trying to move emotions, change hearts. When the people before me chat amongst themselves or fail to sing, I sometimes take it as a personal attack. It's the wrong attitude to worship and leading worship.

It's a good reminder to bring myself back to God, and have none of this pride, this leaning on my own abilities get in the way. I'm going to hold nothing back, I will choose to worship freely because God is worthy of all - everything-

I've been feeling more broken than complete lately. Is this what my clients feel like? Little things would trigger tears. Even the question of how are you can bring an emotional tide.

To really rejoice in this state of "down-ness" is difficult. But as a psychologist, this is really a precious time for me to truly experience the lows. And let God really make me, me.

What if we lost everything. How would we respond? Can we worship, while we are in pain?

I want to be able to bring worship to the lord especially during these times of pain. It's a new low each time. Ever layer of my pride being slowly stripped away. This year, in it's 2 months, has already been such a trial for me. Having to sell off my possessions, having to skip meals because I didn't have money to put food on the table, having to accept that things won't be done according to my timing, being chased for deadlines, having people desert and disappoint me. It's been tough. There has been tears. But I know God is using these difficult experiences to really peel the old me away.

This is certainly food for thought. Do you love me enough to let me go?

In an interview about the song, the lead artist from Switchfoot talks about how love songs are typically about loving forever, or about a love that is possessive. The bible talks about the ultimate love, the ultimate act of love. God didn't demonstrate his love for us by suffocating us with love. God didn't demonstrate his love for us by transporting us straight to heaven. He loved his son.

I was blessed with many opportunities while I was in America. I got to meet a lot of people on the streets and at events. They were the poor and the needy. It was scary. Who talks to crazy people who smell bad and can mug you at any moment?

When I was on a bus full of marijuana users was I afraid? When I was caught out late at night talking to a lady with no teeth? When I shook the hands of a man with only half a hand? Of course the little me was afraid. But once you got to know these people, you will realise they are people too.

As I am preparing for my next placement in another disadvantaged community, I am a little worried. Racial violence in this area made the national headlines last week. Banks refuse to insure properties in this area due to the high rates of criminal activity.

My thoughts: IT's got to be one of my favorite proposals EVER.

I recently watched "The Robin" on How I met your mother. And the song that was playing in the background just drew me in. One of the things I love about HIMYM is that we know Ted is eventually going to meet the mother of the kids. But we, after 8 seasons are still trying to find out who it is, how he meets her, how they fall in love and the really really long winded story in between.

And we keep seeing him fail. Fail and FAIL. Ted may feel alone right now, but we know that he will have a happy ending. In the same way, you may have your own struggles right now. You may be struggling in your studies- wondering whether you will ever succeed- you may be struggling with your work- wondering if you can ever gain the approval of your boss - you maybe struggling in your relationship - or wondering whether anyone out there is waiting for you, or whether you will be alone forever. But you know what?

This soon will pass. And we have to await the joys of eternity.

And today I reread Hebrews. It's often easy to say that you believe in the future God has for you, and it's easy to say that you believe in the unseen. But it's another thing to really feel worn out and see your options fall apart. But I have to keep reminding myself that one day I will be telling someone else my testimony and I would be telling them this is How I ....

I had a look at what I was thankful for last year. Indeed I am still thankful for those things.
