Help me find my way.

It's this time of year when high school students are ensuring that their University preferences are in, and university students are contemplating their life after graduation. Spring is also a time for huge changes in the property market with people contemplating new homes before Christmas.

For me, it's also a time of change. Starting a new job, wrapping up my PhD. I seem, once again, lost. I don't know what I am doing and what direction I am going in.

Worship should be EPIC- Build your kingdom here

I just love this type of worship, the music just vibrates through your body, and you can't help but to get up and get into some heel thumping action.

Church is for everyone.

This is the first song I have heard from Rend Collective. I hope it revives the way you worship too!

Build Your Kingdom Here—Rend Collective Experiment

Let the darkness fear
          G      Am
Show your mighty hand
         F           G
Heal our streets and land
         G         Am
Set your church on fire
         F      C
Win this nation back

obsessions?

I was struck by the lesson God taught me this morning. I had been obsessing about something for the last couple of days. Not even a little, not a lot, but way too much.

And this morning, God, in his word, gave me the lesson I needed to hear.

Indeed, if God wills it, then let it be so. But let us not go on obsessing about plans we have in our own heads, to satisfy wants our minds believe we need.

alone on mid autumn festival

This time last year I was in Canada/USA. We celebrated Mid Autumn Festival with my family who flew to the states to visit me. The 'togetherness' of mid autumn festival is something I love. This year, I sit in an empty house alone while my brother is interstate working, my mother is out with her fellowship.
For those of you alone on mid autumn festival this year, chin up- you are loved.

267 things in a soul mate

I recently reviewed the 20th anniversary edition of "Chicken Soup for the Soul".
original book review: couragepsyc.blogspot.com.au

In the book, the author wrote about his personal experience with soulmate searching. He wrote down a list of 267 attributes that he desired in his future partner. And these attributes were quite honest- included attributes about the significant other's looks. And he thanks God that he does indeed find a partner, and looking back at his list, he found that God had prepared for him a partner with almost all of those attributes!

So here are some of mine...
  • A follower of Christ
  • Love of children's ministry
  • Respectful to old and young
  • Able to independently look after themselves
  • Humble and willing to admit wrongs
  • A gentle heart
  • Wise
  • Has a charming smile
  • Strong
  • Courageous
  • Honest
  • Has a passion for life
  • Easy to talk to
  • Is forgiving
  • Adventureous
  • Isn't perfect
  • Doesn't smoke
  • Doesn't like to get drunk
  • Doesn't gamble
  • ...

I don't know if my soul mate is somewhere out there. And I wonder how many attributes I would hit in someone else's list?

Happy birthday YY

My friend's favorite hymn is Come Thou Fount, and every time I heard this hymn, I think of them.
I love how music can trigger memories, experiences, sensations.

But it is the same old song you say, well, I agree with the artists, it just doesn't grow old, because the message is still as relevant today as it was yesterday.

Happy Birthday YY. You can join us in worshiping together, by downloading the hymn from Noisetrade.com. @resonate_church You can grab all the chords here.

More than you think

Let illness not hold us back from doing the work God has called us to do. The lead vocalist from The Ember Days was really too ill to sing. But that didn't stop her and her band from following through with God's plan.

Lately a few sisters from church were heading to a mission trip, but in ill health, yet, they did not stop to rest, they pushed through, for His glory.

The Ember Days acoustic sessions reminds me of Gungor, beautiful one. It's the same spirit-filled mesmerizing intimate feel. But they are from down under- well New Zealand.

Chord charts available on their website. Their website takes a while to load, but do check them out. They are funny and talented.
