Brilliant mystery
Nothing less than shear brilliance. I am a big fan of romantic comedies, and I don't frequently watch anything besides romantic comedies. Sherlock is an exception. I have just finished the second season of Sherlock and I was not disappointed.Billiant. Bravo.
I can humor myself into saying that I solved the mysteries before he revealed the whole truth but, what did I know without the director and script writers planting the information there?
For example, in the second episode this season, I guessed that it was an airborne hallucinogen. But that's only because that's my pet interest- drugs. I can't imagine a lay person to guess that without special knowledge. Well to tell you the truth, the second episode wasn't all that riveting, they kept planting too much for the audience to guess- the coffee... over excitement of the scientist...
The last episode was magic. Lies wrapped in the truth wrapped in lies. Decoding a code that was a meaningless code. Sherlock knew he needed to die to save his friends, he asks Molly for help- and this was not followed up, his own brother doesn't turn up to his grave, strange reactions when he falls off the building.
But we all feel so smug about figuring things out. We feel so smart when we finally work things out for ourselves, but we forget there was a script writer that wrote it all and gave us the clues every step of the way.
GUESS WHAT? even though our future seems like a mystery. It has already been written... and our God can see further than we ever can. He has left little clues along the way for us to discover.
