New Man- All things new

Lately, I've been working with children who are suffering mental health problems partly due to their parents behavior. In the past their parents may have neglected them, may have done things to them, may have used drugs during pregnancy  And despite all this, you know what? All they wanted was for their parent to be there for a particular birthday party or school event.

Parents bring their kids into therapy expecting us to fix the kid and give them a perfect kid afterwards. But the reality is, parents must also be committed to becoming like new parents. This change is HARD. And some aren't willing to change. But for those who are willing to give it a shot, the rewards are well worth it.

Sometimes we try to spread the gospel and tell people God is like our heavenly father. But this is such a hard concept to those who have never had a loving father, or their father abandoned them, abused them. We tell them about experiencing a change when we believe in God. We tell them about a new life. But this change isn't a one way street. We must be willing to give it a go, we must be willing to experience God's will in your life whether it be positive or negative.

If you are a "new man" you must be willing to give up the old you.
