Voiceless praise

[No words, silence, not sound that can be heard]
[God's mighty power is yet known to the world]
[The sunrises and returns to it's beginning]
[God's grace, radiates like the suns' light]
[The heaven declare God's glory, to spread the news of his mighty power]
[Day and night uttering poems to praise the almighty God.]

15 years ago, I remember yelling at my dad- telling him that I was going to be late to school. He slapped me across the face. That was my last interaction with my dad. I think about the incident from time to time. Could I have handled it differently, I could have been more patient, I could have said I love you. Of course there are regrets.
But I also remember the good memories. I remember him yelling out pjs, and singing k. I remember my dad working and how I looked up to him. I remember how he would socialise so easily. I remember how he would carry my brother and I on his shoulders. I remember both good and bad times. I am fortunate to have known my father for at least 10 years of my life.

We had just moved to a new house, got a new car, he was going well in his job... our future was looking bright. But in an instant, things can change. In a space of a few hours, I changed from wanting to get to school on time and wanting dad to leave us alone to facing the reality of never seeing him again.

In an instant, we lost the breadwinner for the family. The head of the family. The father. The husband. We were in a foreign country with no family. My mother kept few friends for herself.

Yet, in these bleak times, my mum was always hopeful. She kept praising, kept reading the bible, kept trusting that the Lord would pull us through. And he did. He took care of us through the loving hands of friends, family and the church. He blessed us. What do we have that is not the lords? But the greatest comfort and the greatest blessing through these 15 years, is knowing that the Lord Jesus Christ was with us every step of the way.

[In the countless dark nights, you are drawn out by stars]

[Your grace is like the morning star, allowing me to clearly see you]

[In my song, I use notes to praise you]

[Your goodness - I will spread with my life]

[The greatest blessing of this life, is to know Jesus]

[The greatest blessing of this life is to believe and trust in Jesus]

[Even though I walk through the highest mountains or deepest valleys, he will be walking with me]

[I Know that is the greatest blessing].

in my selfishness

02:00:00 Kikoprincess 0 Comments

In my selfishness I have been an embarrassment. I felt like I had the licence to make myself feel better after being stressed out at work and overcoming some uncomfortable personal circumstances.

I felt like I could just play hard. Do what I want to do, when I want to do it. And that I could leave serving God to when I felt better. Thankfully God loved me and was patient with me. It's not about timing, it's about time in- just like the share market.

What have I learned after waking up from my selfishness? Don't wait for a right time to serve God, just serve.

My hope is in you- Aaron Shust

I meet with You and my soul sings out
As Your word throws doubt far away
I sing to You and my heart cries Holy!
Hallelujah, Father, You're near!

(Chorus)
My hope is in You, Lord
All the day long
I won't be shaken by drought or storm
A peace that passes understanding is my song
And I sing
My hope is in You, Lord

I wait for You and my soul finds rest
In my selfishness, You show me grace
I worship You and my heart cries Glory
Hallelujah, Father You're here!

A constant

21:28:00 Kikoprincess 0 Comments

It's been at least a year since we have had a meal together. It feels like no time has passed in between. Yet even over the last 12 months, we have changed. Subtly. You won't be able to pick it. But the things we talk about have changed, the things we worry about, some of our occupations have changed, our direction in life, what we considered important.

Today, our topics seem more mature. We talk about marriages, and work... not about exams and boyfriends. Over the last couple of weeks, I had the courage to read some old journals. Little me had crushes on a million different guys, I would love a particular type of music, colour, food, clothing, sport... but these all change over time.

It's hard for me to find something constant. Something that doesn't change. But such a thing exists. 2000 years ago, God died for us. He loved us then, and he loves us now.

[Lord Jesus, I thank you, your body was sacrificed for me]

[Brought me out of the darkness, into the light, allowing me to see again]

[Lord Jesus, I thank you, your precious blood flowed for me]

[On the precious cross, the healing grace flowed, allowing me to be completely free]

[The might of the Precious cross has given me life, Lord Jesus Christ I bow down before you]

[The saving grace of the precious cross is your covenant, your love will never ever change]

nomadic existence

21:12:00 Kikoprincess 0 Comments

From one nomad to another According to the dictionary, a 'nomad' is a member of people who have no permanent abode and travel from place to place to find pasture for their livestock.
Since staring uni, I have moved around a fair bit. everytime I move, I feel stressed and excited at the same time. there is always so much to organise and so many things to think about. At the same time, there is also the anticipation of meeting new people, learning new things and discovering new places. of course when we go to a new place we might feel like it's outside our comfort zone.
we might have expactations for ourselves, for our new friends, new work environment, new church support networks.etc
but i firmly believe in exposure as the best treatment for anxiety/fear. it's not easy but putting yourself out there would put you in the best position.
god was with Israel when they too were nomatic, for 40 yeras the people wandered around in the desert, they would settle in a plae, then be uprooted again to another place. I guess besides the huge lenght of time (to get use to it), it was that they could do it together as a nation. Although there were times I felt lonely during my moves, I knew that my family and friends were only a phonecall/short trip away. What is more important is that God is never far away, and your family/church is not confined to 4 walls. it is about the people. and no matter where you go God's people will be there, or hearts yearing for God.
This path God has sent you on may not be easy and you may not be able to see why it's so difficult, but our God knows what he is doing.
He wants the best for his children so what are you experiencing now is in accordance with his beautiful plan for you. You are loveable. God proved that over 2000 years ago. You are not insignificant, he hears our prayers and gives us what we need, even if it's not what we want.

Daily bread

02:00:00 Kikoprincess 0 Comments

Today's devotional bought me into the lives of the Israelites as they wandered the desert. The people, who saw all the miracles performed in Egypt were again complaining. They did not have faith that God would provide for them.

God then provided them with daily bread. A special bread from heaven. They were to collect this bread each day. They could not gather too much and save it for a rainy day- this would go off.

We Christians liken God's word to this type of bread. We need to "eat" of the bread daily in order to get sustenance. We cannot "binge" on God's word and expect this will last us for several days, months or years. It's something we need to take of daily!

How can we get strength from God's word today?

Exodus 16

New International Version (NIV)

Exodus 16

Manna and Quail
1 The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt. 2 In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. 3 The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.” 4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. 5 On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days.”
6 So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, “In the evening you will know that it was the LORD who brought you out of Egypt, 7 and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we, that you should grumble against us?” 8 Moses also said, “You will know that it was the LORD when he gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the LORD.”
9 Then Moses told Aaron, “Say to the entire Israelite community, ‘Come before the LORD, for he has heard your grumbling.’”
10 While Aaron was speaking to the whole Israelite community, they looked toward the desert, and there was the glory of the LORD appearing in the cloud.
11 The LORD said to Moses, 12 “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.’”
13 That evening quail came and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. 14 When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor. 15 When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.
Moses said to them, “It is the bread the LORD has given you to eat. 16 This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Everyone is to gather as much as they need. Take an omer[a] for each person you have in your tent.’”
17 The Israelites did as they were told; some gathered much, some little. 18 And when they measured it by the omer, the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little. Everyone had gathered just as much as they needed.
19 Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.”
20 However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them.
21 Each morning everyone gathered as much as they needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away. 22On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much—two omers[b] for each person—and the leaders of the community came and reported this to Moses. 23 He said to them, “This is what the LORD commanded: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of sabbath rest, a holy sabbath to the LORD. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’”
24 So they saved it until morning, as Moses commanded, and it did not stink or get maggots in it. 25 “Eat it today,” Moses said, “because today is a sabbath to the LORD. You will not find any of it on the ground today.26 Six days you are to gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will not be any.”
27 Nevertheless, some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather it, but they found none. 28 Then the LORD said to Moses, “How long will you[c] refuse to keep my commands and my instructions? 29 Bear in mind that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Everyone is to stay where they are on the seventh day; no one is to go out.” 30 So the people rested on the seventh day.
31 The people of Israel called the bread manna.[d] It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey. 32 Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Take an omer of manna and keep it for the generations to come, so they can see the bread I gave you to eat in the wilderness when I brought you out of Egypt.’”
33 So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a jar and put an omer of manna in it. Then place it before the LORD to be kept for the generations to come.”
34 As the LORD commanded Moses, Aaron put the manna with the tablets of the covenant law, so that it might be preserved. 35 The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land that was settled; they ate manna until they reached the border of Canaan.
36 (An omer is one-tenth of an ephah.)

When I lose my way,
And I forget my name
Remind me who I am
In the mirror all I see
Is who I don't wanna be
Remind me who I am

In the loneliest places
When I can't remember what grace is

(Chorus)
Tell me, once again who I am to You, who I am to You
Tell me, lest I forget Who I am to You, that I belong to You, to You

When my heart is like a stone,
And I'm running far from home
Remind me who I am
When I can't receive Your love
Afraid I'll never be enough
Remind me who I am

If I'm Your beloved
Can You help me believe it

Chorus

I'm the one You love
I'm the one You love
That will be enough
I'm the one You love

Chorus (X2)

20:42:00 Kikoprincess 0 Comments

Every time I fly I am reminded of this song. The sun above the clouds is always the same no matter what the weather is like underneath. And now when I sing this song, I can't help but smile and see a bright face... someone with such innocent faith in the truth behind the song.

No matter how bad things get, or what happens, our God is a constant. He doesn't change like shifting shadows. When the people change around you, or you yourself change ... God doesn't change. He loved you and still does. In fact, this will never change.

The sun above the clouds
[Whether I'm on top of a beautiful mount]
[Or if I'm lying in a dark valley]
[When you lift your head, you will discover]
[God has already made preparations for you]

[The sun above the clouds, will never ever change]
雖然小雨灑在臉上, [even though the rain falls on your face]
[The sun above the clouds, will never ever change]
[Ah, it will never change]
