Message:

What do you normally do during worship? Do you sing and think of what you are going to do later? Do you play your video games while worship? Do you read a book during worship? OR do you truly worship God?

Items: cookie, chocolate, paper heart, container

Snacks- ask who wants them. Start eating and tell them it tastes good. Ask them if they still want it.
King came over for a meal, and he didn't come right away, you started to eat... then the king comes in. And all you have is leftovers for him to eat, how would he feel? Is that how a king should be treated?

Let's not give him leftovers! Let's give him our whole heart!

Mark 12:30

30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[a]

Role of music in church
1.          Praise, worship and thanksgiving – with all your mind and strength!: (1 Chronicles 16:9, 1 Chronicles 13:8, Psalm 30:12)
2.          A reflection of the heart to God – a personal God whom we can confide in, confess and cry out to (Exodus 15:2, psalm 31)
3.          Encourage, teach and support fellow brothers and sisters: (Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:18-20)

Role of musician/pianist in service
l   Bring other kids to worship and focus on God through music
l   Know the song – the message, lyrics, musical flow
l   Lead by worshiping yourself

Spiritual challenges for a musician
l   Using your gifts to serve: (1 Peter 4:10)
l   Feeling inadequate: story of the 2000 talents servant - It’s how we use our gifts that matters!
l   Temptation of personal pride: All gifts are from God (1 Corinthians 4:7)

ALTER CALL

(you will need a small cup of water and a paper towel) Tell the children the empty cup represents them. Fill it with water and explain that the water represents our praise. Then continue by showing the paper towel and explaining that the paper towel represents God. We can fill our lives with praise, but it doesn't do God any good unless we give it to him. God is wanting and waiting for us to give him our praise. When we give him our praise he soaks it up (put paper towel in the cup to soak up some water). Then God blesses us with wonderful things (squeeze the water from the paper towel onto the cup) We were created to worship God. God is waiting for us to worship him. We can't keep it to ourselves.

Before the day
Before the light
Before the world revolved around the sun
God on high
Stepped down into time
And wrote the story of His love for everyone

He has filled our hearts with wonder
So that we always remember

You and I were made to worship
You and I are called to love
You and I are forgiven and free
When you and I embrace surrender
When you and I choose to believe
Then you and I will see who we were meant to be

All we are
And all we have
Is all a gift from God that we receive
Brought to life
We open up our eyes
To see the majesty and glory of the King

He has filled our hearts with wonder
So that we always remember

Even the rocks cry out
Even the heavens shout
At the sound of His Holy name
So let every voice sing out
Let every knee bow down
He is worthy of all our praise
